Contact Members of Congress and urge them to drop the proposal to sell thousands of acres of federal land in Vieques, Puerto Rico!
This week the House Natural Resources Committee is expected to consider H.R. 4900, the Puerto Rico Oversight, Management and Economic Stability Act (PROMESA). The bill was crafted to address the ongoing economic turmoil on the island, but tucked into section 405 of the bill is language that would allow the federal government to sell thousands of acres of public lands in Vieques, Puerto Rico.
A bill that would deny all Americans the right to visit Vieques National Wildlife Refuge in Puerto Rico is unacceptable.
Vieques is the largest natural refuge in the Caribbean and should be treasured rather than put up for sale.
